Lightweight Design with Forged Wheels
OTTO FUCHS forging technology enables the production of high-performance, lightweight wheel solutions. Thanks to the properties of forged aluminum, forged wheels can offer weight advantages over wheels produced using alternative manufacturing processes, depending on the specific application. This supports lightweight vehicle design concepts and can help optimize vehicle-related characteristics.
Anyone interested in seeing the weight difference firsthand has the opportunity to do so at our events. During our popular “lift test,” we demonstrate the difference using two nearly identical 18-inch wheels, comparing a forged wheel with a comparable cast wheel. In this example, the forged wheel weighs approximately 4 kg (8.8 lbs) less. Across a set of four wheels, this results in a total vehicle weight reduction of approximately 16 kg (35 lbs).
